Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra, H. Herman Deru, received an audience with the South Sumatra Taekwondo Association on Wednesday (July 23, 2025) at the Governor’s Guest Room.
During the meeting, the association presented its plan to host an International Taekwondo Tournament in Palembang.
In addition to Indonesia as the host, the event will also feature participants from several countries, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, India, and the People’s Republic of China. The outcomes of the meeting will later be reported to the National Taekwondo Federation.
Governor Herman Deru welcomed the proposal and expressed his appreciation for the initiative of the South Sumatra Taekwondo Association. He affirmed that South Sumatra is fully prepared to host international events, highlighting the strong support of facilities and accommodations at Jakabaring Sport City (JSC).
In his directive, the Governor emphasized the importance of ensuring readiness in all aspects, including accommodation, competition equipment, and training facilities for the athletes.
He also reiterated his full support for the organization of both national and international sporting events in South Sumatra, particularly in disciplines such as Taekwondo.
Also present at the meeting were Assistant I H. Sunarto, Head of the Youth and Sports Agency Rudi Irawan, Head of Public Relations and Protocol Bureau Tony Kurniawan, Head of General Affairs and Equipment Bureau Darmayanti, along with several other related officials. (mhn/ril)
