Jakarta, TheIndonesiaPost – Political Psychology Expert Hamdi Muluk responds to the government’s desire to slope the coronavirus curve as soon as possible.
According to Hamdi, there are at least five things that must be considered so that these desires can be realized.
First, the government must ensure that all information regarding Covid-19 is accurate and accurate. That way, the public will not fall into hoax information that can interfere with psychological conditions.
“Information should not be biased and only frighten people, but also should not say fine so people become ignorant, this information management will affect one’s emotions and ways of behavior,” Hamdi explained, quoted from the online site.
The academician from the University of Indonesia also asked anyone to comply with the health protocol. One of them, using a mask when leaving the house, applies clean and healthy living behaviors by washing hands with soap and, adhering to the ethics of sneezing.
The third aspect is social distancing in order to put the brakes on the rate of spread and prevent transmission. Although according to Hamdi, the most effective way to break the chain of transmission is to lockdown or locking the area so that the movement of the community stops completely.
However, he added, the lockdown was considered to be risky for the economy to run because of this the large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) that might be imposed.
“The community must obey social distancing, even though the most stringent is a lockdown, but we choose the middle, which is PSBB so that the economy does not totally die,” he said again.
The next step is to speed up the rapid test so that the mapping of the red and green zones is faster. This mapping will later influence epidemiological studies so that the region can establish CBSS.
The last step is medical therapy. Some of them include preparing medical equipment according to the standards of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), also ventilators and other medical needs to support the handling of Covid-19.
“The vaccine is waiting for you but for a long time, medical therapy is treatment, now this is hospitalization, how to maximize hospitals and equipment, this is a curation aspect,” Hamid said. (rama/bbs)
