Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo is making a scene again. They re-published caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad Sallallah Alaihi wa Sallam.
The caricature was published on Tuesday (1/9). Or one day before the trial agenda for 14 people accused of assisting the two main perpetrators of the attack on Charlie Hebdo’s office in 2015. The caricature had previously been published in a newspaper in Denmark.
Unmitigated, a total of 12 cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad Sallallah Alaihi wa Sallam were published in the magazine. One cartoon depicts the Prophet Muhammad Sallallah Alaihi wa Sallam wearing a bomb on the head, not a turban. The headline, written in French, reads “Tout ça pour ça”. Which means ‘all that for this’.
The cartoons are so heartbreaking. It was deliberately published when the trial of the 14 people accused of helping the Kouachi brothers was held.
If anyone still remembers, on January 7, 2015 Charlie Hebdo’s office was attacked by two brothers Said and Cherif Kouachi. They opened fire on the people inside the office. Dozens of people died including Stéphane Charbonnier, known as Charb, the magazine’s editor. The other dead included four cartoonists, two columnists, a copy editor, a visiting guest, a guard and a policeman.
The police then hunted down the two brothers. They were caught and eventually killed. A man Amedy Coulibaly, a colleague of the Kuoachi brothers, was also killed. He was shot after previously killing a policewoman and holding a number of people hostage in a Jewish supermarket. He killed four Jewish men on January 9 before being shot dead by police.
In 2011 a similar tragedy occurred. At that time, the media office, which has been in existence since 1970, was pelted with a gasoline bomb.
Charlie Hebdo is known as a satirical magazine with left-wing political views. They often tease political and even religious officials.
But why mock religion. Why insult the Prophet Muhammad Sallallah Alaihi wa Sallam. Insulting Islam. What’s wrong with religion? what Islam got to do with this? Is it about the attact of Charlie Hebdo’s office? Isn’t that there was a video recording showing that one of the suspects, Amedy Coulibaly, was acting on behalf of the attack from the Islamic State group or IS. And everyone knows, IS or ISIS is not Islam, right!
This weekly magazine often publishes dangerous cartoons. I don’t know what the purpose is. Is it purely a business or is there some other reason, only they know.
“We will never submit. We will never give up, “wrote Director and Owner of majority stake Charlie Hebdo Laurent” Riss “Sourisseau quoted from theduardian.com.
The cartoons are heart wrenching. However, Emmanuel Marcon, President of France, the country where the weekly magazine is published and circulated, did not dare to comment. The reason is because France upholds press freedom. Especially us. Let’s just pray that they all receive guidance. While we show them the real Islam. Islam which is a rahmatan lil alamin.
