Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Indonesian President Joko Widodo said that COVID-19 vaccination for public service workers will continue to be carried out in all provinces in Indonesia, so it is hoped that the realization of vaccine injection can increase drastically every day.
“Once in the province of DKI Jakarta, it will run in other provinces so that later we hope that the number of vaccines vaccinated every day will increase drastically,” said President Jokowi after reviewing the COVID-19 vaccination for market traders in Tanah Abang, Jakarta, Wednesday.
In observing the COVID-19 vaccination, President Jokowi was accompanied by Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin and DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan. The government has now started phase two of the COVID-19 vaccination, for public service officers, including the TNI-Polri apparatus, market traders, service sector workers, athletes, and journalists.
As of Monday (16/2), the total number of Indonesians who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 has reached 1,120,963 people, an increase of 24,868 people in one day. Meanwhile, the total target of COVID-19 vaccination in Indonesia reaches 181.5 million people. This figure is determined to create communal immunity in Indonesia.
President Jokowi gave a target for the Ministry of Health to complete the COVID-19 vaccination in Indonesia within one year from January 13, 2021.
The Head of State reminded that even though the public had been given the COVID-19 vaccine, 3M’s health protocol, namely wearing masks, maintaining distance and washing hands with soap, must continue.
“Finally, don’t forget to keep 3M, wear a mask, keep your distance, don’t forget to wash your hands,” said the President.
The President has also issued the latest regulation, namely Presidential Regulation Number 14 of 2021 which is an amendment to Presidential Regulation Number 99 of 2020 concerning Vaccines Procurement in the Context of the Corona Virus Disease Pandemic.
The regulation stipulates that every person who has been designated as a target recipient of the COVID-19 vaccine, is required to participate in the vaccination program. (icn/bbs)
