Through this opportunity, the Director General of Oil and Gas, Prof. Ir. Tutuka Ariadji, M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU said that Illegal Drilling activities managed by the community have a detrimental impact on the state, polluting the environment around illegal oil wells and can even cause fatalities in the event of an accident because the equipment used is not appropriate. standard.

In this regard, he said that several efforts would be made, including the formation of a coordination team for handling illegal oil well drilling activities by the community in Jambi Province and South Sumatra Province and revising PERMEN ESDM NO. old well.

Responding to the issue of Illegal Drilling, HD believes that this is rife due to several factors including the existence of a market that accepts and accommodates the results of the illegal oil mining, the community feels they have rights and does not know that this violates government regulations.

In addition, HD also said that the South Sumatra Provincial Government had made several efforts, such as forming a work team to handle Illegal Drilling and directing Illegal Drilling workers to become farmers or ranchers. (ojn/ril)
