Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The activity, which was opened by the Governor of South Sumatra H Herman Deru accompanied by the Chairperson of the South Sumatra Province Family Welfare (TP-PKK), Hj Febrita Lustia Herman Deru, was carried out to protect and preserve the culture, customs and ancestral heritage in South Sumatra organized by the South Sumatra Provincial Culture and Tourism Office. Previously, the First Traditional Week 2020 was held at Siguntang Hill Park.
In his speech HD admitted that he was very proud and grateful, there were still those who were committed to maintaining the honor of the customs, culture and language of the South Sumatra region.
“This 2nd Indigenous Week is not just showing off beautiful dresses or arts from various tribes, but there are many other varieties. One of them is language. In the past, there were levels to language alone. Currently, our children and grandchildren do not know the local language, we respecting the oath of youth in one language, Indonesian, means that we don’t eliminate our traditional language, our tribal language. We must often socialize the local language in our environment “explained HD.
HD hopes that today’s activity can increase love for South Sumatra’s main culture.
The Head of Culture and Tourism of South Sumatra Province, Aufa Syahrizal, SP, M.Sc in his report said that this event was held thanks to the collaboration and support of all parties.
“All associations in South Sumatra are present wearing their own traditional clothes. South Sumatra is a miniature of Indonesia, 17 regencies/cities display their customs with diverse cultures. We want to promote and preserve a culture that has never been raised, we invite all stakeholders,” explained Aufa.
Meanwhile, Sultan Iskandar Mahmud Badaruddin said that the 2nd Traditional Week activities began with a cultural carnival of all communities in South Sumatra wearing their own traditional costumes.
Also present were the Chair of the ICSB of South Sumatra Samantha HD, the Chairman of the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD, Hj. Anita Noeringhati, Forkopimda of South Sumatra Province, Chair of the Ir Syahrial Oesman Association, Heads of South Sumatra Province OPD. (mhn/ril)
