Solo, The Indonesia Post – The Surakarta City Government, Central Java, provided a number of relaxation activities for the community during Ramadan following the number of COVID-19 cases which began to decline in recent times.
Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka in Solo, Friday, said one of the easing is in the implementation of Tarawih Prayers.
“‘Please, please go to your respective mosques, the important thing is to keep your distance and wear a mask. A little crowd is okay, the important thing is that the process is maintained,” he said.
Regarding restrictions on the number of congregation members in each place of worship during Tarawih, he said, there would be easing given.
“Usually the first Tarawih is crowded, yes, we have relaxed a bit, it’s okay to wear a mask,” he said.
In addition, places to eat are still welcome to operate during Ramadan, including sellers of takjil or iftar food.
“Many takjil sellers are not po-po (that’s okay). For those who sell takjil, the important thing is the process, if you sell masks, you continue to use it. If you can, the food is ready-to-eat and closed,” he said.
However, he appealed to the public not to carry out iftar activities together in advance. In addition, open houses or the tradition of receiving guests during Eid are also not allowed.
“You can’t open together, you can’t open an open house either,” he said.
He asked the public to immediately follow the booster vaccination so that their immune system increases.
“Don’t forget the booster vaccine, this is approaching 40 percent (the achievement of booster vaccination in Solo, ed.). Before going home with the booster,” he said. (ojn/bbs)
