Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir emphasized that the Jabodebek LRT public transportation mode remains safe for the public.
“It’s impossible for us to build something to avoid security, that’s why the process is gradual, it’s impossible for the state to build something to harm its people,” Erick said when met at the BRILiaN Tower, South Jakarta, Monday.
Responding to a number of technical problems complained about regarding the operation of the Jabodebek LRT, Erick said the improvement process continues to be carried out in stages because this mode is a new public transportation project in Indonesia.
“But the repair process continues, the name is also new, but believe me, the person is safe, there is a process, that’s why we continue to maintain the trials,” said Erick.
Apart from that, Erick said that using public transportation can reduce pollution levels. He said this because private vehicles are one of the factors causing pollution.
“One of the pollution pressures is that the vehicles we use ourselves are up to 44 percent. So if we don’t migrate to public facilities, public vehicles, such as the LRT and MRT with all the advantages and disadvantages, what will happen in the end? We indulge ourselves and don’t push for what’s called improvement. pollution,” said Erick.
Previously, on August 30, PT KAI as the operator of the Jabodebek LRT conveyed an apology to the public regarding various technical problems that disturbed passenger comfort, such as jolts during braking, train doors not closing, AC and power outages, as well as several information board facilities that not yet functioning optimally.
