Surabaya, TheIndonesiaPost – The positive case of Covid-19 in East Java Province showed a sharp increase. As of Sunday (10/5), the number of corona sufferers reached 1,502 people. Nationally, East Java is in the second position Covid-19 distribution shifts West Java with 1,437 cases and below Jakarta with 5,190 cases.
Now in East Java, 52 co-19 transmission clusters have been detected with the largest cluster in the Hajj Sukolilo Surabaya with 157 cases.
“East Java has increased significantly, we report to the President that the Pangkogabwilhan element needs to help the provincial government, regency, city, in order to reorganize so that the regional task force can be fully supported by elements of the Indonesian soldiers and police (TNI / Polri) in the region,” said the Head of the Task Force for the Acceleration of COVID Handling -19 Doni Monardo in a press conference via a live broadcast of the Cabinet Secretariat Instagram account, Monday (11/5).
Doni said that later Kogabwilhan II could also involve the Marine Corps to convey persuasive measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in East Java to the public.
He believes that involving the TNI can make people more compliant with various health protocols to prevent Covid-19.
“It is hoped that the marines can invite the community and there is no need to take excessive legal steps to the community because the TNI elements are highly valued. So that the community can be obedient and voluntarily obey directives specifically related to health protocols,” he said.
The first involvement of elements of the TNI, Polri, Kejati, and the High Court was held in Jakarta. The previous team only consisted of civil servants from the regional work unit (SKPD) in the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government environment. (rama/bbs)
