JAKARTA, TheIndonesiaPost – During the period of learning from home, Minister of Education and Culture Nadiem Anwar Makarim said that education units can choose a distance learning platform that suits their needs.
Implementation instructions (operational guidelines) and technical instructions (technical guidelines) for distance learning for each platform have their respective methods for linking to the curriculum.
Reported by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, the Minister of Education and Culture at a Working Meeting with the House of Representatives Commission X conducted via video conference on Friday (03/27/2020) revealed, the choice for each school to choose which platform. “We provide options because several platforms already know each other’s methodology. for Learning Centers, they have their own operational and technical guidelines with the methodology of the Ministry of Education and Culture. There are also those from the private sector, they have various options and it is free for students, “explained the Minister of Education and Culture.
At the level of higher education, said the Minister of Education and Culture, it is not a strange thing in some universities to learn from home, because they have done online learning. “They already have their own learning modules and of course the DGHE works closely with the Open University and several other universities to provide online learning platforms. So they are more comfortable with online learning, “explained the Minister of Education and Culture.
Furthermore, for Vocational High School students, the 2020 Competency Test (UKK) is not held. The decision was taken, said Plt. Director-General of Vocational (Director General of Vocational) Patdono Suwignjo, because the competition test is very difficult to do online, but must be done face-to-face.
“Given that now the COVID-19 outbreak is over, we are more concerned with life safety, the expertise competency test for vocational schools for 2020 is not held but it does not mean that we cannot assess the competency skills of vocational students,” Patdono said.
He added that there were 4 ways that could be taken as an alternative to UKK. The first alternative is to use the value of student practice competencies that have been conducted in semesters 1 to 5 because in the SMK curriculum there is a composition of practice 60-70 percent. The second alternative is to use an assessment of industrial practice because, for a minimum of 3 months in semester 5 towards semester 6, vocational students carry out the industrial practice.
Then the third alternative uses the value of the student skills certification test. Vocational High School also has a record that can be used to replace the value of expertise competency test. The fourth alternative is that if COVID-19 has been completed, the Vocational School can work together with the Professional Certification Institute (LSP) and with the industry to conduct competency certification tests from vocational students.
In line with this, Plt. Head of Research and Development Agency (Balitbang) Totok Suprayitno, said that there are various alternatives that can be used as indicators of student graduation, such as the even semester last year’s grades can be used as additional graduation scores. “This value is the basis for the value of the diploma used for further purposes including continuing education abroad. So this is indeed a relaxation of the policies that have been carried out so far, “explained Totok.
Likewise, for students graduating from non-formal education units. In principle, Totok said, it was left to each non-formal education unit. Package A, Package B, Package C graduation exams, assignments, project work and / or student portfolios can be done online. “When non-formal education units cannot carry out this, graduation is determined based on the students’ scores in the last 5 semesters. So this is exactly the same as the treatment of formal education, “said Totok.
Regarding Acceptance of New Students (PPDB), according to Totok, it still refers to the Minister of Education and Culture regarding PPDB. However, in the current emergency situation, he stressed that the education office and schools were asked to prepare a PPDB mechanism that followed the health protocol related to the prevention of the specific spread of COVID-19, including preventing the gathering of students and parents physically at school. “We hope that the Education Office will really be able to obey the protocol,” Totok said
The Permendikbud on PPDB also regulates achievement paths. In this regard, the achievement path no longer uses the UN, including UKK for Vocational Schools, but is based on the accumulation of report cards determined based on the last 5 semesters and / or academic and non-academic achievements outside of school report cards, and / or assignment activities – another assignment.
“The Center for Data and Information Technology of the Ministry of Education and Culture provides technical assistance to regions that need a special PPDB mechanism for online,” concluded Totok. (Rama/ojan/bbs).
