Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Chairperson of the House of Representatives and DPP PDI Perjuangan Party, Puan Maharani, confirmed that Indonesian President Joko Widodo had never asked PDI Perjuangan General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri to extend his presidential term to three terms.
“No, never. As far as I know, he never asked for an extension of three terms,” said Puan Maharani in Jakarta, Wednesday.
In accordance with the constitution, said Puan, the president holds office for 5 years, and after that he can be re-elected in the same position, for only one term.
“If there is an extension of the term of office, where does the mechanism come from? Then what does it look like?” said Mrs.
The chairman of the PDI Perjuangan DPP continued, “At that time there was no mechanism that made it possible to extend the presidential term of office to three terms.”
Puan also denied the existence of a viral video of the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri throwing her hands at President Jokowi.
“Was throwing his hands away, that’s why he was the one who went down the stairs, right? Mas Ganjar was holding the stairs when he went down the stairs, then he didn’t look. His name was going down, focusing on the stairs, so there was no shaking,” she said.
She said that a mother’s love is eternal, and it’s just a matter of going down stairs.
“That doesn’t exist at all,” said Puan.
Previously, the Chair of the PDI Perjuangan DPP, Puan Maharani, congratulated Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka who had officially registered with the Indonesian KPU in Jakarta, Wednesday.
“Congratulations to presidential candidate Mas Prabowo and vice presidential candidate Mas Gibran who have registered today,” she said.
Gibran’s current position has officially become Prabowo Subianto’s vice presidential candidate.
She said that Gibran had not submitted his resignation, and his party could only congratulate Prabowo-Gibran.
However, she admitted that she had met Gibran Rakabuming Raka and chatted about many things.
“Mas Gibran has said goodbye and said he wants to be Mas Prabowo’s vice presidential candidate,” said Puan. (mhn/bbs)
