Commemorating the 78th anniversary of South Sumatra, Legislative Council Chairperson emphasizes the spirit of togetherness to create an advanced, independent and prosperous South Sumatra

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The South Sumatra Provincial Legislative Council (DPRD) held a Special Plenary Meeting to Commemorate the 78th Anniversary of the South Sumatra Province, chaired by the Chair of the Provincial DPRD. South Sumatra; Hj. RA Anita Neoringhati, SH, MH accompanied by the Deputy Chair; Hj. Kartika Sandra Desi, SH, MM and H. Muchendi Mahzareki, SE, M.Si attended by Acting. Governor of South Sumatra; Dr. Drs. A. Fatoni, M.Si, Regional Secretary; S.A. Supriono, as well as OPD representatives and other invited guests both in person and virtually from districts and cities in South Sumatra as well as from outside the province, at the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD Plenary Meeting Room (15/5/2024).

In his speech opening the 78th anniversary of South Sumatra, the Chairman of the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD expressed the importance of maintaining togetherness and synergy in the spirit of mutual cooperation to create a developed, independent and prosperous South Sumatra:

_”The task of the regional government and all development stakeholders in South Sumatra is to continue to maintain togetherness, work hard, make intelligent efforts, be serious and maintain a consistent attitude in achieving development targets. “If all levels of government officials and stakeholders can synergize optimally in the context of togetherness and mutual cooperation, God willing, the obsession towards realizing an advanced, independent and prosperous South Sumatra will be realized in all areas and sectors of development,” explained the Chairman of the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD.

Furthermore, the Chairman of the Provincial DPRD. South Sumatra conveyed the achievements of the regional government and appreciated the performance of Acting. Governor of South Sumatra and said that there would be a joint agenda for regional head elections:

_On this happy occasion we convey our appreciation to Acting. The Governor of South Sumatra who has helped build the South Sumatra Province that we love. and in the not too distant future, there is a big agenda that we will implement jointly between the regional government and the community both in the Province and Regency/City, namely making the regional elections for the Governor/Deputy Governor of South Sumatra a success and the regional elections in 17 districts/cities in South Sumatra ”_ explained the Chairman of the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD.

On that occasion also the Chairman of the Provincial DPRD. South Sumatra conveyed the importance of the South Sumatra Anniversary Commemoration as a means of evaluation and introspection in development:

_”This momentum is a form of appreciation for historical actors and development actors in South Sumatra who have made a real contribution to the development of South Sumatra, as well as being a means of evaluating and introspecting the various successes and achievements in implementing development in South Sumatra which we continue to strive for”_ explained the Chairman of the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD.

Closing his remarks, the Chairman of the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD said that so far legislative and executive relations have been running together:

_”As equal partners, the harmonious relationship between the regional head and the DPRD is an indicator of the success of the development of South Sumatra, and Alhamdulillah, the relationship between the regional government and the DPRD of South Sumatra Province has been running well and full of togetherness”_ explained the Chair of the DPRD of South Sumatra Province.

In line with the Chairman of the Provincial DPRD. South Sumatra, in his speech Acting. The Governor of South Sumatra also conveyed the achievements that the regional government had achieved, explaining several regional programs in making South Sumatra advanced in the economic and cultural sectors, including the launch of South Sumatra coffee. South Sumatra as the largest coffee producing region in Indonesia is expected to be able to have a big impact on the regional economy. The result will be to improve the welfare of the community, especially local coffee farmers.

There will be a Sriwijaya Museum to collect historical traces of the Srivijaya Kingdom heritage as well as the making of films entitled “ado gawe” and “wong kito galo” in an effort to highlight the culture and local wisdom of South Sumatra and other achievements.

At this South Sumatra Anniversary Commemoration, grants, honorariums and social assistance were given symbolically to Islamic Boarding Schools and Children’s Homes. The Special Plenary Agenda was closed by reading a Joint Prayer. (ojn/ril)
