Palembang, The Indonesia Post – South Sumatra Governor H. Herman Deru attended the 2025 Regional Inflation Handling Coordination Meeting combined with a virtual Discussion on Anticipating Extreme Weather for the Eid al-Fitr 1446 Η Period at the South Sumatra Command Center, Monday, (10/3/2025).

The Indonesian Minister of Home Affairs, M. Tito Karnavian, invited the Regional Government to attend to take anticipatory steps against natural disasters due to extreme weather. The Central Government will be present to support the Regional Government in carrying out various anticipatory efforts.

“Don’t let the community work alone, the state must be present. BMKG has presented weather and disaster predictions. I ask the Regional Government to immediately take anticipatory steps to reduce the impact of the disaster, prepare forces to coordinate with the Forkopimda and all parties to prevent victims,” ​​he explained.

According to him, accurate predictions need to be supported by anticipatory efforts. And we must solve this problem in the long term. What is important is accurate information and we quickly prepare our forces.

Furthermore, Tito said that there was a change in the price development index related to the inflation proxy in the first week of March 2025.

“We need to anticipate what causes inflation to increase, so anticipatory efforts need to be made so that inflation remains under control and does not increase,” he said.

On that occasion, the Coordination Meeting discussed the prediction of rainfall in March-May 2025 in various regions in Indonesia, in March several regions in Indonesia are predicted to have high rainfall and this means that the potential for extreme weather can occur at any time and occur repeatedly, especially in Sumatra, Java, and Kalimantan.

While May is a transition to the dry season with medium rainfall intensity. Please be vigilant during March and the homecoming flow. And also the impact of the weather on food availability in Indonesia.

In addition, the Coordination Meeting also discussed anticipation of areas with the potential for extreme weather in the region, predictions of natural disasters due to extreme weather, and the types of assistance provided for areas affected by extreme weather in several regions in Indonesia. And the update on regional inflation control in the first week of March 2025.

The coordination meeting was held offline at the Sasana Bakti Ministry of Home Affairs, and all regional heads of provinces throughout Indonesia online.
