Minister of Investment: Local entrepreneurs are empowered through collaboration

Sorong, The Indonesia Post – Minister of Investment/Head of the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia said that local Southwest Papua entrepreneurs will be empowered through collaboration with external entrepreneurs as part of efforts to support the development of local entrepreneurs.

“I confirm that, because local entrepreneurs must be empowered to grow and develop in their own regions,” explained the Minister of Investment in Sorong, Thursday.

The concrete step is that the Minister of Investment has made ministerial regulation number 1 of 2022, regarding the obligation to collaborate with regional entrepreneurs, so that local entrepreneurs are able to rise and develop in their country.

The making of this regulation is based on instructions from the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo regarding the collaboration of incoming investment with entrepreneurs in the regions.

“So far, when investment comes in, entrepreneurs from that area only become spectators, then the impact is that local entrepreneurs feel neglected,” said Bahlil.

Therefore, he said, the President of the Republic of Indonesia has ordered that incoming investment be able to involve regional entrepreneurs so that they too become involved in investment in their regions.

“So in the future, every entrepreneur who enters will have to comply with existing regulations, so that local entrepreneurs are able to grow and develop in their area,” said Bahlil.

According to Bahlil, it is time for local entrepreneurs to become masters in their own country and become the subject and object of economic development in their region.

“This is the only time we can enter into the justice that the founding fathers of the nation aspired to,” stressed Bahlil. (mhn/bbs)
