South Sumatra Legislative Council Chairperson Attends the MURI Record of Drinking Coffee on the Bank of the Musi River

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Dr. Hj. RA Anita Noeringhati, SH., MH attended the largest number of coffee drinks which succeeded in setting a record for the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI) on the banks of a river at the same time in Indonesia at the musi riverside plaza, Benteng Kuto Besak (BKB) Palembang, Saturday (13/7/ 2024).

On this occasion, the Acting Governor of South Sumatra, Elen Setiadi, S.H, M.S.E, stated that this activity was not only an effort to set a record, but also as a form of appreciation for South Sumatra’s culture and natural wealth. Especially coffee and rivers which are the lifeblood of the people of Srivijaya.

“As a region famous for its Robusta coffee, South Sumatra has great potential to promote local coffee on the national and international stage. “This simultaneous coffee drinking activity is a strategic step in introducing South Sumatran coffee to the world as well as promoting regional tourism,” he said.

Elen further expressed her appreciation to MURI for providing full support for this activity, and hopes that the record that will be broken will not only be a source of pride for South Sumatra, but also for all Indonesian people.

He also invited all parties to continue to support and promote coffee, tourism and culture of South Sumatra, and together we can make this province one of the best tourist destinations in Indonesia.

“Let’s make this activity a momentum to further elevate the image of South Sumatra in the eyes of the world, as well as strengthen ties of friendship and togetherness between districts/cities, especially the people of South Sumatra,” he said.

In the same place, General Chair of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) Arsjad Rasjid said that around 26 percent of national coffee production comes from South Sumatra.

“Appreciation to the South Sumatra Provincial Government and Palembang City Government for organizing this event. “Kadin is also committed to continuing to improve so that South Sumatra coffee becomes more advanced and global,” he said.

In line with Arsjad Rasjid, Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Anindya Bakrie, said that Indonesia is number four as a coffee producer in the world. Meanwhile, a quarter of national production comes from South Sumatra.
“South Sumatra coffee is delicious. “Let’s make this event a success to prioritize branding and South Sumatra MSMEs,” he said.

Apart from being held at the provincial level, thousands of participants at the 17 regencies and cities in South Sumatra.

Also present at the MURI record for drinking coffee by the river at the same time were the Chair of the South Sumatra DPRD Anita Noeringhati, Acting South Sumatra Regional Secretary Edward Chandra Acting Mayor of Palembang Ucok Abdulrauf Damenta, heads of vertical agencies/institutions, the South Sumatra Forkopimda, and the Heads of the South Sumatra OPD, as well as community leaders .
