Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Chairperson of the South Sumatra (Sumsel) Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD), Hj Anita Noeringhati, decided to hand over the implementation of the fit and proper test for the candidates for the South Sumatra Public Information Commission (KIP) Commissioner for the 2024-2028 period to the newly elected members of the South Sumatra DPRD for the 2024-2029 period. The inauguration of the new DPRD members is scheduled for September 24, 2024.
This decision was taken considering that the current agenda of the South Sumatra DPRD is quite busy, including the discussion of the Main Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) for the 2025 Fiscal Year, which is estimated to be completed on September 13, 2024.
“We already have a work program until September 18 to 20. Given the busy agenda, I have decided to delegate the fit and proper test process for the South Sumatra KIP commissioner candidates to the new DPRD members, who will be inaugurated on September 24,” said Anita in her official statement.
Anita added that the handover of responsibility was considered the right step so that the implementation of the selection of prospective South Sumatra KIP commissioners would continue to run smoothly without having to rush. “We want to ensure that the selection process runs well and with great care. By handing over the implementation to the new DPRD members, it is hoped that they can continue the process with more focus after the inauguration,” she added.
The fit and proper test for prospective South Sumatra KIP Commissioners is an important stage in determining who will fill strategic positions in the institution tasked with ensuring the openness of public information in South Sumatra. The term of office of the previous South Sumatra KIP Commissioners will end at the end of 2024, so the selection for the 2024-2028 period needs to be carried out immediately.
This selection process is expected to be carried out as soon as possible after the inauguration of the new DPRD members, so that the performance of the South Sumatra KIP is not disrupted. With the presence of new DPRD members who are ready to work, it is hoped that the selection of prospective commissioners can be carried out professionally and in accordance with applicable provisions.
Meanwhile, the discussion of the 2025 Main Budget is currently the main priority of the South Sumatra DPRD, considering the importance of the budget for the sustainability of development and regional government programs in the coming year.
With this transfer of responsibility, Anita hopes that the entire process can run smoothly and there will be no obstacles in the transition of the new South Sumatra DPRD membership. “We are sure that the newly elected DPRD members will be able to carry out this task well and maintain the quality of selection for the benefit of the people of South Sumatra,” she concluded.
