Palembang, The Indonesia Post – South Sumatra Governor H. Herman Deru (HD) officially broke ground on the construction of the Duplicate Dry Land Bridge and the Improvement of the Rimau Island – Penuguan Strait Main Road in Banyuasin Regency. This took place in Mukut Village, Rimau Island District, Banyuasin Regency, on Thursday (10/23/2025).
This bridge, located in Mukut Village, Pulau Rimau District, will be a strategic link.
In his speech, HD said that political positions elected by the people, such as president and governor, have the responsibility to serve and represent the interests of the people.
Like the groundbreaking for bridge construction and road improvements, this is a form of service to the people. HD Banyuasin added that the area is vast, as large as Gorontalo Province.
The South Sumatra Provincial Government has provided assistance amounting to 176 billion for Banyuasin Regency, and this money is public money, one of which is obtained from tax payments.
“That’s why let’s work together to be disciplined in paying taxes. We shouldn’t be among those who enjoy all the infrastructure while not paying taxes. For example, there are 4 million vehicles in South Sumatra, while only 1 million pay taxes,” said HD.
HD also explained that although our current financial condition is limited, it does not reduce services to the community.
“Regarding the financial cuts to the regions, I’m trying to stay calm and think about how to find a solution so that the community can prosper,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Regent of Banyuasin, H. Askolani, in his remarks emphasized that today is a very historic day for the people of Pulau Rimau. There are no words I can say, I only say a thousand thanks to the Governor of South Sumatra who has provided assistance to Banyuasin Regency.
Also in attendance were the Banyuasin Regency Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkompimda), the heads of regional government agencies (OPD) in South Sumatra Province and Banyuasin Regency. (mhn/ril)
