Palembang, The Indonesia Post — The Deputy Governor of South Sumatra, H. Cik Ujang, attended the inauguration ceremony of the Regional Board of the Indonesian Firefighters Association (Asosiasi Pemadam Kebakaran Indonesia / APKARI) for South Sumatra Province for the 2025–2029 term, held at Aryaduta Hotel, Palembang, on Wednesday (October 15, 2025).
In his remarks, Deputy Governor Cik Ujang underscored APKARI’s strategic role as a key partner of the provincial government in safeguarding lives, property, and the environment.
“The duty of firefighters is far from easy. They operate under high-risk and challenging conditions that demand speed, skill, and exceptional courage. We fully support APKARI’s presence as a platform for coordination and capacity building — to deliver excellent public service under the principles of one corps, one standard, and one command,” he said.
The Deputy Governor also urged APKARI and the public to prioritize fire prevention education and foster a culture of emergency preparedness, emphasizing that prevention efforts are far more effective than post-disaster response. (mhn/ril)
