Jakarta, TheIndonesiaPost – South Sumatra Governor H Herman Deru’s policy to provide relief for Single Tuition (UKT) for students in South Sumatra who are affected by covid-19, is not a figment.
Where is known, currently there are thousands of students who have been declared to pass the administration to get the assistance program which is the initiation of the governor. One of them is thousands of students at the Raden Fattah State Islamic University (UIN) Palembang.
Herman Deru himself had indeed previously budgeted at least Rp10 billion from the South Sumatra Provincial Regional Government Budget to provide tuition waivers for 10 thousand South Sumatra students, including students who are abroad.
“Alhamdulillah, we have realized this. Their education must not be stopped because of the covid-pandemic,” HD said, Tuesday (7/28).
He conveyed, each student and student received a fee reduction of Rp1 million for one year or two semesters.
“We allocate approximately IDR 10 billion for the program. So it’s Rp1 million for one year per student, “he explained.
“Hopefully it can accommodate students affected by the pandemic. If it is lacking later, we will do refocusing and reallocation from others,” he added.
He hoped that students could use the assistance in accordance with their designation.
“Higher education is also expected to be able to select wisely so that the assistance is right on target and is beneficial for the continuity of college and college students,” he stressed.
Meanwhile, Elis Public Relations Raden Fatah Palembang, Elis said, there were at least 5,671 who would get the assistance. The assistance will be given in the amount of Rp1 million per year per student who is indeed affected by covid-19. This is based on the Decree of the South Sumatra Education Office number 420/6088 / Set.3 / Disdik.SS / 2020.
“There are 5,671 students who received UKT stimulus assistance. Those who were declared passed the previous administration,” he said.
He admitted, his party relied on the help of the Provincial Government to ease the burden on UKT students.
“We signed the MoU with the Provincial Government through the Education Office, after that only the disbursement process was directly transferred to the student account number,” he said.
Previously, the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) had originally planned to channel subsidized aid funds to the world of education under its auspices. However, the Government actually diverts the allocation of funds from the Ministry of Religion for covid-19 prevention that does require large funds. For this reason, several Ministry of Religion programs must be postponed and canceled, one of which is UKT student subsidies.
“We are included in the program from the Governor with a two-stage disbursement system. First, students are assisted by Rp500 thousand for one semester with a total disbursement of Rp1 million per person,” Elis explained.
He believes, the distribution of these funds, of course, has gone through the verification and inspection of files submitted by students affected by COVID-19. Students must meet the requirements and complete document attachments according to the applicable rules.
“For the second stage, students must return the same file as a condition for disbursement in the next semester,” he concluded. (ojn/rel)
