Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Deputy Governor of South Sumatra, H. Cik Ujang, attended the Technical Coordination Meeting for Rural Housing, held at the Sasana Bhakti Praja Building of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Jakarta, Tuesday (4/29/2025).
The Housing and Rural Coordination Meeting held in order to provide support for the 3 Million Houses Program was officially opened by the Deputy Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), Fahri Hamzah.
In his direction, Deputy Minister of PKP, Fahri Hamzah, said that by utilizing one centralized data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), ministries and institutions as well as regional governments can collaborate through the preparation of joint programs to overcome poverty, especially related to the provision of decent housing, sanitation and regional planning.
“The President emphasized that we all work with the same data. The governors who are present here, please sit down with BPS, sit down, create a regional one data forum. So that we have data,” he said.
Specifically for inner-city housing, Fahri continued, President Prabowo Subianto has instructed the Ministry of PKP to use land for vertical housing such as flats.
“Use state lands in the city, we build, we ask developers to build, we calculate the land price. The land price becomes a subsidy element for the state, after the land is clean, the permits are clean, calculate how much it costs, later the cost is added to the profit. We can decide approximately how much it will cost,” he said.
He said that currently, the potential for housing land from the Land Bank Agency’s assets throughout Indonesia reaches 36,116 hectares with 485 hectares of which are potential land in villages.
“Meanwhile, the potential land from land indicated as abandoned reaches 79,925 hectares with 683 hectares of which are in villages. In addition, there is potential from village treasury land which has an area of 17,496,424 hectares,” he added.
Deputy Governor of South Sumatra, H. Cik Ujang, hopes that with this program, Low-Income Communities (MBR) will be able to have decent housing.
“In principle, the South Sumatra Provincial Government will support this 3 Million Houses Program in accordance with the duties and authorities of the region,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the South Sumatra Provincial Housing and Settlement Service, Novian Aswardani, explained that the Joint Decree (SKB) of the Three Ministers between the Minister of Public Works, the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) and the Minister of Housing and Settlement (PKP) in supporting the acceleration of the construction program of three million houses for MBR.
“South Sumatra Province is one of the regions that has completed all changes to regulations related to the acceleration of licensing in supporting the provision of MBR housing in South Sumatra Province,” he said.
For information, the 3 Million Houses Program aims to provide access to decent housing for all levels of society, especially MBR, informal sector workers, villagers and 3T (Disadvantaged, Frontier, Outermost) areas.
Then improve the quality of the residential environment through the construction and rehabilitation of houses. And encourage multi-party collaboration of government, BUMN, private, financial institutions, cooperatives and local communities in building housing. (mhn/ril)
