Palembang, The Indonesia Post – South Sumatra Governor H Herman Deru today directly reviewed the progress of the Keramasan Logistics Terminal National Strategic Project (PSN) located at Kertapati Station, Palembang, Tuesday, (13/5/2025).
This review was carried out in order to ensure the acceleration of infrastructure development aimed at increasing the capacity of transporting natural resources (SDA), especially coal.
In his statement, Governor Herman Deru said that this PSN has an ambitious target to increase the coal transport capacity from the original 8 million tons to 40 million tons.
With the acceleration of the completion of the project which is targeted to be completed by the end of 2026 or early 2027, HD is expected to significantly reduce the traffic of trucks transporting SDA, especially coal, and divert it to the railway line.
“Although we already have the Governor’s Regulation (Pergub) Number 74 of 2018 which regulates the cessation of coal transportation using trucks from Lahat to Palembang, there are still exceptions, especially for routes from the mine to special roads,” explained Governor Herman Deru.
Furthermore, HD hopes that mining companies such as PT Bukit Asam (PT BA) can focus more on transporting coal using trains. This step is expected to not only reduce disruption to the community due to truck traffic, but also open up opportunities to increase the exploitation of coal that can be transported via railways.
In the review, the environmental friendliness aspect was also a major concern. Governor HD appreciated the use of a closed capsule model conveyor belt, thus minimizing the potential for environmental pollution.
In addition, the South Sumatra Provincial Government is also encouraging investors to build special roads for trucks leading to the pier. This step is expected to further reduce the potential for accidents and separate industrial transportation routes from public routes. (ojn/ril)
