Herman Deru attends the Summit of the National Children’s Day 2020

Jakarta, TheIndonesiaPost – South Sumatra Governor H Herman Deru attended the Summit of the National Children’s Day (HAN) 2020 event through a virtual event organized by the Ministry of PPPA RI.

Indonesian President Jokowi congratulates National Children’s Day and invites children all over Indonesia to wash their hands with running water and soap and use masks in the framework of preventing covid-19.

Meanwhile, South Sumatra Governor H Herman Deru through the PPPA Acting Head, Fitriana said that the South Sumatra Provincial Government through the PPPA Office has made various efforts to tackle violence against children by forming a Regional Service Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) for handling against violence against women and children, between another with the existence of a child forum and the Regional Child Protection Commission (KPAD).

“One of the activities carried out is the empowerment of children including children experiencing violence and socialization through children’s forums. “This case of violence consists of physical, psychological, sexual violence, exploitation, trafficking, and neglect,” he said.

Fitri explained that there are several factors that influence this happening, namely the economy, religion, and education of parents. Where the most dominant is caused by economic factors.

Especially in the covid-19 pandemic that affected the economy of the community such as the number of cases of layoffs, so the potential for violence against children also became large. Where children become an outlet for the anger of parents who are unable to meet the economic needs of the family, including children.

“Governor HD also supports efforts to improve the economy for the middle and lower classes so that the impacts can also be suppressed, especially on children,” he said.
