South Sumatra Sets Record with World’s Largest AI Training, Secures Guinness World Record

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – South Sumatra (Sumsel) has made history on the international stage. An Artificial Intelligence (AI) training program initiated by Governor Herman Deru successfully broke a world record, with 12,003 teachers from elementary, junior high, senior high, and vocational schools across the province participating both online and offline.

The event, held at Griya Agung Palembang on Saturday (Sept 20, 2025), was officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s largest AI training in education.

Following the achievement, Governor Herman Deru received an official Guinness World Records certificate, which read:
“The most users in an artificial intelligence in education lesson was achieved by Parentsafe.Asia and Government of South Sumatra (both Indonesia) in Palembang, Indonesia.”

This milestone underscores South Sumatra’s strong commitment to advancing education and preparing teachers for the digital era, while also proving that innovation and technological literacy can be embraced by all communities. (mhn/ril)
