Defense Minister Prabowo Receives French Foreign Minister’s Visit to Discuss Cooperation

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto receives French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian at the Defense Ministry Building, Jakarta, Tuesday.

The meeting discussed the follow-up to the strategic partnership between Indonesia and France in the defense sector which was signed in June 2021 in France.

A press release from the Ministry of Defense’s Public Relations said that the defense cooperation between Indonesia and France covers various fields, such as intelligence, military training and education, science and technology, defense industry.

In addition, cooperation with peacekeeping forces, eradication of terrorism and development and research of the defense industry includes joint production.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Defense (Wamenhan) Lt. Gen. TNI M Herindra received a working visit from the Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs (Menlu) Jeppe Kofod at the Ministry of Defense Office, which discussed defense cooperation.

On the arrival of the Danish Foreign Minister, Wamenhan Herindra expressed his appreciation and gratitude for visiting the Ministry of Defense.

The former Inspector General of the TNI hopes that the Danish Foreign Minister’s visit can strengthen and improve bilateral defense relations between the two countries.

Previously, there were several defense cooperation between Indonesia and Denmark, including the 2017-2020 Plan of Action (POA) through the 3rd Bilateral Forum Indonesia-Denmark under the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Then several cooperations in the defense industry as well as the signing of a contract with the Indonesian government for the Electronic Support Measures (ESM) of six Indonesian Navy ships in August 2021. (ojn/bbs)
