Novlis: Eddy Rianto’s Evidence Removed by Prabumulih City Police Investigators

Prabumulih, The Indonesia Post – The Prabumulih District Court (PN) panel of judges decided to proceed with the case of alleged fraud and embezzlement involving defendant H. Eddy Rianto, SH, MH, to the preliminary examination stage.

The decision was read out directly by Judge Putriana, accompanied by Chief Justice Sugiri Wiryandono, SH, MHum, and Ali Pangestu on Wednesday evening (May 13).

Meanwhile, Public Prosecutor M. Ilham requested one week to prepare for the trial.

Separately, Novlis, SH, emphasized that he and his legal team were ready to fight in the next stage. He even firmly stated that he was ready to present all evidence demonstrating his client’s innocence as charged by the prosecutor.

“It has been clear from the outset that this is a civil case—a debt dispute. And this is proven by the receipts for installment payments made twice by our client to the plaintiff,” he said.

“Even the receipt clearly states that this is a loan. So, there’s no such thing as embezzlement,” he continued outside the Prabumulih District Court.

However, Novlis continued, as good citizens, he and his client respect the court’s decision to allow the case to proceed to the examination stage. “Instead, they decided that this is a civil matter,” he added.

Just to recap, Novlis previously revealed that his client had made two installments to the defendant. The first was on January 8, 2021, for Rp 200 million. He then made another installment on January 17, 2025, for Rp 150 million. All the transfers were documented.

Not only that, Novlis even revealed that all the evidence was submitted directly by Eddy Rianto and his attorney, Yudi Ardianto, to investigators while he was still a suspect in the police investigation. All the evidence was received with receipts from the investigators.

However, when our client received a copy of the investigation report (BAP) from the panel of judges after the first trial, it turned out that none of the evidence submitted had been included in the BAP, let alone used as valid evidence. “What’s going on?” Novlis asked with a smile.

Meanwhile, Yudi Ardianto, SH, confirmed Novlis’ statement. He confirmed that he personally accompanied Eddy Rianto when he submitted the evidence, in the form of receipts and transfer receipts, to investigators. “Yes… I was the one who accompanied him at that time,” he added.

The trial in the alleged fraud and embezzlement case involving defendant H Eddy Rianto, SH, MH, is scheduled to resume next week with the agenda of examining the case and presenting witnesses. (rys/ril)
