Davos, The Indonesia Post – Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G Plate said that a number of foreign companies expressed interest in developing 4G and 5G networks in Indonesia at the World Economic Forum Country Strategic Dialogue.
“Just like Ericson, who has been very aware of Indonesia and its establishment in Indonesia for a long time and they are very interested and know very well the high digital potential of Indonesia’s economy,” said Minister Johnny to the media after the meeting in Davos, Switzerland, Wednesday afternoon local time.
The meeting which was also attended by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto and Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang discussed topics related to sustainable energy to support industry and digital transformation.
Indonesian business partners who were present also expressed their interest in taking part in Indonesia’s policies and grand plans to make the energy transition to sustainable energy and digital transformation.
“I think the World Economic Forum has many benefits in promoting Indonesia as a very investment-friendly country,” he said.
Investors’ interest was also strengthened by the performance of Indonesia’s economic growth which grew by 5.01 percent in the first quarter of 2022. Likewise with the digital potential of Indonesia’s economy with a digital valuation of around US$315 billion, which is increasingly attracting investors.
These investors also expressed their support in infrastructure financing, especially green infrastructure and the development of Indonesia’s digital talent.
Johnny further said that he together with the Minister of Trade M Lutfi, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif also met with WEF CEO Klaus Schwab to discuss issues related to the G20 agenda and Indonesia’s role related to a more inclusive global architecture, digital transformation, especially the digital economy and energy transition.
