Jakarta, TheIndonesiaPost – A number of coronavirus examination laboratories (COVID-19) temporarily stopped testing specimens. The examination had to be stopped because it ran out of reagent chemical compounds.
Reagents are liquids used to determine chemical reactions in detecting Covid-19 infections using the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method.
“There are some who until now could not do the examination anymore, because the reagents were still not here,” said Government Spokesperson for Handling Covid-19, Achmad Yurianto was quoted by CNNIndonesia.
Yurianto confirmed that around 46 laboratories involved by the government in testing patient specimens related to the coronavirus remained in operation. And until Saturday already
107,943 specimens were examined by 79,868 people.
Of the number of people examined, as many as 10,843 people tested positive for corona. A total of 1,665 people have recovered and 831 others have been declared dead.
Meanwhile, cumulatively 235,035 people are categorized as people in monitoring (ODP). While 22,545 people bear the status of the patient under surveillance (PDP).
Covid-19 has so far spread to 321 districts/cities, in 34 provinces. DKI Jakarta has the highest number of positive coronaviruses, with 4,355 cases. Followed by East Java, West Java, and Central Java. (rama/bbs)
