Defense Minister Prabowo strengthens defense cooperation with Turkey

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto visited Turkish Defense Minister Halus Akar in Bakanliklar, Ankara, Turkey, in order to follow up on the defense cooperation action plan.

“We have just signed something that is very historic and important, namely an action plan which is a follow-up to the strategic cooperation relationship between the two countries,” Prabowo said in a written statement received in Jakarta, Saturday.

The meeting between the two defense ministers took place on Friday (3/2). During the meeting, the two signed an action plan for defense cooperation between the two countries.

The signing of the action plan is to strengthen steps in this cooperation to increase the potential for training and the defense industry.

“I am optimistic that close cooperation within the strategic partnership framework between Turkey and Indonesia can contribute to world peace and stability,” said Prabowo.

During the visit, Defense Minister Prabowo and the Indonesian delegation received a warm welcome from the Turkish Defense Minister. Prabowo also expressed his gratitude for the greeting.

“Once again, thank you for the warm welcome, the cooperation that has existed so far and we look forward to the next historic collaboration,” said Prabowo.

Regarding the visit, the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey Hulusi Akar explained that the two parties had discussed the smooth implementation of this cooperation resulting in this action plan.

“It is important for us to increase the potential for military training and cooperation between Turkey and Indonesia in the defense industry,” said Hulusi.

With this cooperation, he hopes that the Indonesia-Turkey bilateral relations in the field of defense can make a positive contribution.
