Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The horseback archery team from the Indonesian Horse Archery Association (KPBI) successfully dominated the Qatar-Indonesia Horseback Archery Friendship competition in Doha on 19-21 February 2023.
The Indonesian Equestrian Archery Team was represented by M Yahya Ayyash, Arsa Wening, Arum Nazlus, Kharisma Zaky, M Solahudin Al Ayubi, and M Shahla Syahada.
The Indonesian Ambassador to Qatar Ridwan Hassan, who hosted the Indonesian team at the Indonesian Embassy’s Wisma, was proud of their success.
“Thank you for making Indonesia proud, you young people who have become Indonesian ambassadors in international forums. At the same time, this complements the bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the Qatar-Indonesia Year of Culture 2023 program,” said Hassan in a written statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Doha, Thursday.
Of the three competition categories between member countries of the World Horseback Archery Federation (WHAF), namely the Korea Track, Arabian Track and Qabak Track, M Yahya Ayyash managed to become the overall champion followed by Kharisma Zaky and M Shahla Syahada.
A prestigious award “Alfares Trophy” or knight’s trophy was given by Qatar to Arsa Wening Arrosyad, as a young cadre who inspired the development of equestrian archery for young people.
Founder and Chairman of the Qatar Horseback Archery Center Fuad Almuhdaka praised the Indonesian team which always looks impressive in international competitions.
“As fellow WHAF member countries, we have a long-term collaboration with KPBI Indonesia to develop horseback archery in WHAF member countries,” said Fuad Almuhdaka who also serves as Chair of the WHAF Committee. (mhn/bbs)
