The Ministry of Tourism cooperates with Qatar Airways to increase visits to Indonesia

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf) is cooperating with Qatar Airways.

This collaboration is carried out as an effort to develop the marketing of Indonesian tourism destinations so as to increase the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia.

“This collaboration is a joint promotion effort including several other programs such as collaborative marketing, digital advertising and other collaborations which will ultimately increase the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia,” said Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno through his statement in Jakarta, Saturday.

This collaboration was marked by the signing of an MoU between the Deputy for Marketing of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Baparekraf Ni Made Ayu Marthini and Qatar Airways Vice President Sales Jared Lee at the JW Marriott Hotel Yogyakarta, in conjunction with the International “Asean Tourism Forum”.

Sandiaga said the collaboration was a follow-up to previous meetings including during the Menparekraf working visit to Qatar some time ago.

He hopes that the cooperation will last in the long term and can become a door for strategic cooperation with other related parties, so that they can jointly promote tourism and also the creative economy in Indonesia.

Menparekraf said, Qatar Airways as one of the world’s largest international airlines has a central role in the distribution of tourists. Doha is a very busy hub that connects many cities around the world.

Therefore, he hopes that this collaboration can increase the number of direct flights and passenger seat capacity.

These two things are the most important factors in efforts to achieve foreign tourist visits, which this year is targeted to reach 7.4 million tourists.

“Doha is a very busy hub for flights from Europe, therefore we can increase the number of tourist arrivals from Europe to Indonesian destinations through the Doha hub. Also India, because India is one of the target markets that we are currently developing and several other initiatives in promoting destinations. -the destination of the homeland,” said Sandiaga.

Through this collaboration with Qatar Airways, it is hoped that it can increase the number of direct flights to Jakarta and Bali as well as other destinations in the country.

“This is the cooperation that we want to further enhance, tighten more for the revival and acceleration of the recovery of the tourism sector,” said Sandiaga.

Deputy for Marketing of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Ni Made Ayu Marthini said the collaboration was a strategic step for the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to promote the “Wonderful Indonesia” brand worldwide so that it could improve the image of Indonesia’s tourism after the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Currently the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is intensively collaborating with various national and international airlines to expedite and expand connectivity to main destinations in an effort to achieve the national target of 7.4 million foreign tourists and 1.4 billion movements of domestic tourists,” said Made.
