The Indonesian National Police Health Team establishes a field hospital in Turkey

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The Indonesian National Police’s Humanitarian Operations Task Force team, which is part of the Emergency Medical Team (EMT) of the Indonesian Ministry of Health’s Health Crisis Center, set up a field hospital tent in Hasa, Hatay City, Turkey, to help people affected by the earthquake.

Head of Police Public Relations Division Inspector General Pol. Dedi Prasetyo in Jakarta, Thursday, said the EMT Team had been on duty for a week in Hatay City, Turkey.

“The established field hospital has the ability to provide outpatient services, emergency departments and operating rooms to treat fractures and trauma caused by disasters,” said Dedi.

In this humanitarian operation, the National Police sent a health team, the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Team and the K9 Animal Unit which arrived in Turkey, Tuesday (14/2). The health team and DVI Polri were led by the Head of the Medical Subsatgas and the DVI for Humanitarian Operations for Turkey and Syria Kombes Pol. drg Ahmad Fauzi.

During one week in Turkey, the health team consisting of surgeons, orthopedic anesthesiologists, general practitioners, dentists, has provided treatment for 624 victims of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Turkey.

“As of February 20, 624 victims of the disaster have been treated, with most of the diseases found being acute respiratory infections, muscle aches and skin diseases,” said Dedi.

The National Police deployed 22 personnel in the EMT Team to depart for the second phase of the humanitarian mission. In phase I, the National Police released four personnel from the K9 Team, namely AKP Mohammad Amali, Bripka Stefanus Anton Mulyono, Bripka Triyono Arbianto and Briptu I Ketut Mertayasa.

The four personnel are the handlers of two K9 dogs named Lupita (8) and Gizi (3).

The Polri Humanitarian Task Force Team for Turkey and Syria will be on night duty on a humanitarian mission for one month. Upon arrival in Turkey, the team was divided into two, namely the team on duty in the Turkish city of Hatay consisting of a medical and logistics team. As for Syria, the logistics team. (mhn/bbs)
