Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The government will implement a three-day quarantine policy for foreign travelers (PPLN) who have received complete vaccinations and boosters starting March 1, 2022.
“Three-day quarantine for PPLNs who have been fully vaccinated as well as boosters,” said Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investments as well as social restriction (PPKM) Coordinator for Java and Bali Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan in an online press statement on the results of the PPKM average in Jakarta, Sunday.
Luhut explained, based on data obtained by the government, the daily cases per population of Indonesia are actually lower than countries that have no longer imposed quarantine.
However, the case fatality rate in Indonesia is still relatively higher than complete vaccination of the existing population, when compared to countries that do not implement quarantine.
“Based on this data, the government will continue to use a cautious and gradual approach in determining the adjustment of the PPLN quarantine,” he said.
Luhut also ensured that the three-day quarantine policy had been decided after hearing input from experts and analyzing existing data.
The government will also implement a trial without quarantine for foreign travelers (PPLN) to Bali on March 14, 2022.
“The government will also conduct a trial without quarantine for PPLN coming to Bali and it is planned to take effect on March 14 with several conditions,” he said.
Luhut said that Bali was chosen as the pilot project location because the level of second-dose vaccination recorded was higher than in other provinces.
“However, in the preparation period leading to March 14, we will continue to accelerate the second dose of booster for seniors,” he said. (ojn/bbs)
