Palestine urges the international community to stop Israeli colonialism

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Palestine urges the international community to intervene to stop Israeli occupation, provide international protection to the Palestinian people, and end Israel’s deadly and destructive immoral campaign.

In a statement, the Palestinian Embassy in Jakarta, Monday, stated that the international community must also act based on collective political, legal, humanitarian and moral responsibility towards this injustice.

“The government has a responsibility to promote accountability, which is the only viable solution to this legal and dire situation,” the statement said.

“The international impunity granted to Israel is a moral, political and legal affront to humanity and decency as well as the principles of international law,” the statement added.

Palestine stated that the current situation occurred because the world failed to restore the rights of the Palestinian people.

In fact, Israel as an invader has deprived the Palestinian people of their rights for more than half a century. Israel has illegally used violence, threats, land confiscation, persecution, collective punishment, and carried out its public interests by carrying out evictions against the Palestinian people, he said.

The conflict between Israel and Palestine escalated after the Palestinian militant group Hamas attacked Israel with at least 5,000 rockets in just 20 minutes on Saturday (7/10) morning local time.

In response, Israel declared war on Hamas and retaliated by launching airstrikes on the Gaza Strip, targeting residential buildings, hospitals and killing civilians.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said nearly 400 people, including children, had been killed in Israeli attacks, while more than 2,000 others had been injured, since the offensive began on Saturday.

The UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) said there are currently almost 74,000 refugees in 64 UNRWA shelters, and that number is likely to increase as heavy shelling and airstrikes continue, including in civilian areas.

“Israel has no right and no justification for targeting defenseless civilians in Gaza and other Palestinian territories,” the Palestinian Embassy said.

“Retaliatory attacks against civilians using heavy weaponry are illegal in the eyes of international humanitarian law and must stop.” (mhn/bbs)
