Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The number of recipients of the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Indonesia increased by 47,353 from Monday to 12.00 WIB, bringing the total number of people who have received the full dose of the vaccine to 135,814,029.
Based on data from the Ministry of Health received in Jakarta, Monday, 55,693 people have just received the first dose of vaccine. Thus, people who have received the first dose of vaccine reached 188,338,544 people.
The government has targeted more than 208.26 million people as the target for the COVID-19 vaccine, and has started to carry out booster doses of vaccination.
The total of those who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 with booster doses reached 7,059,145 people, after an addition of 10,414 people on Monday afternoon.
Even though they have been vaccinated, the government urges the public to consistently apply health protocols, because the COVID-19 pandemic is not over yet.
The health protocols include wearing masks, washing hands with soap and running water, maintaining distance, avoiding crowds and reducing mobility.
Previously, the Spokesperson for the Indonesian Ministry of Health and Secretary to the Director General of Public Health Siti Nadia Tarmizi appealed to the public to remain calm, but remain vigilant in responding to this increasing number of cases.
“Although cases are increasing rapidly because the virus spreads faster than Delta, Omicron’s symptoms are not as severe as the Delta variant with most patients being asymptomatic (OTG) and having mild symptoms,” she said.
In addition, the number of bed occupancy and COVID-19 isolation in hospitals is still very much under control compared to last year, said Nadia.
For people who have mild or asymptomatic symptoms, Nadia said, it is advisable to self-isolate at home or in centralized isolation that has been provided by the government.
For self-isolated patients at home, they can take advantage of telemedicine services if available or report to the nearest Puskesmas to get medical monitoring by health workers. (ojn/bbs)
