Indonesia Search and Rescue team arrives to help earthquake victims in Turkey

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The Indonesian Search and Rescue Team (INASAR Team) to help earthquake victims who were trapped in the rubble set foot in Adana, Turkey, Sunday at 09.50 local time.

“The INASAR team was welcomed by two officers at the Adana Airport Reception and Departure (RDC) Post. After receiving instructions from the ambassador at Aksoy Hotel Adana, the team moved towards Hatay,” said Pranata Public Relations Associate Expert Basarnas Anjar Sulistyono in a written statement received in Jakarta.

Anjar said the INASAR team, totaling 47 people, departed from Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport, Jakarta, Saturday (11/2) morning.

The team carried out a humanitarian mission, helping urban SAR victims of an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 that shook the country of Pazarcik District, Kahramanras Province, Turkey, on Monday (6/2) evening.

The humanitarian mission sent by the Government of Indonesia to assist in post-earthquake relief in Turkey was entrusted by the Turkish Disaster Management Agency (AFAD) to carry out the mission in Antakya City, Hatay Province.

This information was conveyed by the Indonesian Ambassador to Turkey Lalu Muhamad Iqbal, immediately after carrying out the final coordination with the leadership of AFAD.

“It’s a belief. “At the direction of the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs on the first day of the earthquake, the Indonesian Embassy Team was already in the four most affected areas on the second day of the earthquake, before any foreign representatives visited these areas,” said Iqbal.

Iqbal said, apart from evacuating Indonesian citizens, his party was also making an assessment in the field to identify the areas most affected and which would become the target of the Indonesian Humanitarian Mission. (mhn/bbs)
