The Republic of Indonesia and Timor Leste agreed to settle two segments of the land border

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Indonesia and Timor Leste have agreed to complete the two remaining land border segments of the two countries this year, namely the Noel Besi Segment, Citrana Segment and the Bidjael Sunan Oben Segment.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo stated this while giving a joint press statement with Timor Leste Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Monday.

“For the management of the border area, RI and Timor Leste have agreed to immediately complete the two remaining land border segments this year, namely the Noel Besi, Citrana and Bidjael Sunan Oben segments,” Jokowi said.

Jokowi said that the completion of the land boundary negotiations was important to be able to start maritime negotiations, as well as to encourage the construction of a National Cross-Border Post (PLBN) in Oepoli, East Nusa Tenggara.

Along with this, Jokowi on that occasion also welcomed the increase in land connectivity, among others, through the inaugural launch of the Kupang-Dili route with bus routes.

Jokowi specifically also pushed for sea transportation logistics costs for business activities to be reduced. (mhn/bbs)
