The Minister of Communication and Informatics Begins Collaboration to Overcome Pandemic

JAKARTA, TheIndonesiaPost – Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Johnny G Plate hopes that startups in Indonesia collaborate to produce solutions to overcome the new coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19).

“I hope that all of you, with full enthusiasm, can use this opportunity to collaborate with new friends from other regions and facilitate various solutions for the Covid-19 pandemic,” Johnny said, in a press release, as reported by Antara.

Johnny expressed his hopes when giving a virtual welcome at the Global Online Startup Weekend COVID-19 Indonesia, a digital startup creation company for 54 hours, taking place from April 24-26.

Each participant will build a 54-hour startup that focuses on six sectors, namely health, vulnerable participants, community, business, education, and entertainment.

Minister Johnny invited programmers, designers, marketers, business people, academics, researchers, and participants to participate in this event in order to provide solutions to current problems.

COVID-19 Indonesia’s Global Online Startup Weekend, recognized Johhny, is one way to ensure that people can be productive in their activities using the internet and digital media.

1,101 participants from 19 provinces registered for the program.

COVID-19 Global Online Startup Weekend is a global investment and innovation platform, Techstars, which takes place in 60 countries. In Indonesia, the event was organized by KUMPUL digital startup ecosystem activists, together with Impala Network (Semarang), Ngalup.co (Malang), MeetUp Coworking (Pekanbaru), Createlt (Bandung), SatuTampa (Manado), and StartupBorneo (Banjarmasin) networking partners (Banjarmasin).

Participants will pitch about a brief presentation on their business that is broadcast live on YouTube. The panel of judges involved in this event was the Director-General of Information and Information Technology Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan, founder of Bukalapaj Achmad Zaky, Vertical Chairman of Facebook Indonesia Aldo Rambie and Venturra Discovery Partner Raditya Pramana.

Three winners from this event will represent Indonesia in the GLobal Winner’s Top 20 Weekend Startup Week competition. (Ant)
