Minister Luhut challenges Indonesian IT experts to clean up 27,000 government applications

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan challenged young Indonesian IT experts to be able to clean up 27 thousand existing government applications.

“It turns out that we have 27 thousand applications throughout this government. How many vendors do they have. Now, I say, many young brothers and sisters, who are IT experts, let’s show you are great Indonesians, unite this,” he challenged in the System Electronic-Based Governance (SPBE) Summit 2023 which is monitored online in Jakarta, Monday.

Luhut believes that the nation’s children can do it without the need for high costs. He gave an example of the PeduliLindungi application which was successfully developed during the last pandemic.

“I was told by Mr. Anas (PAN RB Minister Abdullah Azwar Anas) that in Indonesia there are many great young people who make applications in ministries, institutions, regional governments and so on. Come on, you work. Don’t use all that expensive money. and I’m sure I can. Haqqul yaqin because of the experience in Covid-19 yesterday,” he said.

Luhut also emphasized that digitalization is one of the pillars of Indonesia’s economy to become a developed country apart from downstreaming, village funds and commodity prices.

He gave an example of the success of the e-catalog or electronic catalog developed by the Government Goods/Services Procurement Policy Institute (LKPP).

The former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs said that there is potential for procurement of government goods/services worth up to IDR 1,600 trillion, of which around 90 percent is still supplied through imports. The government also continues to push for this government spending figure to be carried out in Indonesia so that the wheels of the economy can rotate domestically.

“You look at the e-catalog, there are 105 billion US dollars or Rp. 1,600 trillion that so far we have imported almost 90 percent. Now, gradually starting last year, we have started to include the e-catalog, that Mr. Anas has achieved, that is already Rp. 400 trillion last year. This year the President gave instructions that we must achieve 90 percent this year. It can be done,” he said.

In the records of the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, the realization of spending on domestic products (PDN) in 2022 by ministries/agencies, the central government, regional governments and SOEs reached IDR 698.68 trillion or 69.78 percent of the IDR 1,001.26 trillion commitment.

As for 2023, the government is targeting spending on domestic products (PDN) of 95 percent by displaying 5 million domestic products in e-catalogs.

Luhut emphasized that efficiency through the establishment of a digitalization ecosystem is believed to be able to reduce corruption and encourage innovation by the nation’s children.

“Indeed, the sudden increase in our tax revenue by 48.6 percent comes from stone? From efficiency. Because everything is digitized. This is what we are building, an ecosystem, so that it will reduce corruption, will create efficiency and will also create innovations for young Indonesians. “said Luhut Pandjaitan. (mhn/bbs)
