Minister Sandiaga said that ‘tech winter’ had rocked the technology industry

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno said, ‘tech winter’ has rocked the technology industry which includes start-ups.

“He said tech winter is coming, in my opinion it is not coming but already here and those big companies, world class companies will be assessed how they can adapt to winter,” said Sandiaga after inaugurating the GoSend Study Room which was held in Jakarta, Wednesday.

In winter, he continued, technology companies are tested from various sides so they can survive and get out of unfavorable situations.

Sandiaga also compared this to a bear going into hibernation, namely contemplating what companies can do.

“They eliminate fat and remove the fat that is in their bodies, but they will also prepare because after winter there is spring and summer, so don’t cut fat but hit the flesh, the flesh and muscles cannot be cut, but efficiency must be done in line with this season. ,” he explained.

Technology companies are expected to be able to carry out efficiencies from various sides, namely cutting costs, reducing unnecessary employees and using data properly.

Sandiaga also invited him to review the fall of a banking company, namely Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), which suddenly went bankrupt last week due to a capital crisis.

Sandiaga said that although the SVB case would not have a direct effect, the vigilance of startups in Indonesia in preparing business strategies, especially related to capital, had to be developed. (mhn/bbs)
