The Increasing Fees of BPJS are Canceled

Jakarta, TheIndonesiaPost – The Health Insurance Administering Board (BPJS) decided to cancel plans for increasing contributions. The cancellation of the contribution increase will take effect on May 1, 2020.

The decision refers to Presidential Regulation 82 of 2018 as a follow-up to the Supreme Court’s Decision Number 7P / HUM / 2020 which states that it canceled Article 34 of Presidential Regulation Number 75 of 2019.

BPJS Health contributions will return to the previous tariff of Rp. 80 thousand for class I, Rp. 51 thousand for class 2, and Rp. 25,500 for class 3. The tariff is for Wage Non-Worker Workers and Non-Worker participants, back to the original rate.

Head of Public Health BPJS M Iqbal Anas Ma’ruf was quoted by CNNIndonesia as saying, the calculation of the application of contribution adjustments in accordance with the Supreme Court’s decision was as of April 1, 2020. That is, for January-March 2020 contributions would still refer to Perpres 75 of 2019.

Namely, Rp 160 thousand for class 1 independent participants, Rp110 thousand for class 2, and Rp42 thousand for class 3.

It means that BPJS Health will not refund the remaining or overpayment for January-March contributions.

“To the excess of participant contributions that have been paid in April 2020 will be compensated for contributions in the following month,” he said.

In principle, he continued, BPJS Health wants health services to participants not to be impeded. Especially paying attention to the current socioeconomic conditions amid the co-19 pandemic.

With the return of nominal PBPU segment contributions according to the Supreme Court Decree as of May 1, 2020, it is expected to be able to help and not burden the community. Participants can continue to contribute, maintaining their active membership status by regularly paying monthly contributions.

“This is a form of mutual cooperation, especially when the nation is together against Covid 19,” added Iqbal.

Iqbal added that if on May 1, 2020, participants had problems related to membership status, billing and needed other information, they could contact the BPJS Health Care Center 1500 400.

Iqbal also reminded participants to prioritize health insurance as a basic need especially during the co-19 pandemic. The risk of illness will further widen the economic slump if it does not have health insurance. (ras/bbs)
