Semarang, TheIndonesiaPost – Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo spoke up in response to the statement of the Covid-19 Handling Special Government Spokesman Achmad Yurianto, who said the city of Semarang had the potential to become a new epicenter of the Covid-19 case in Indonesia.
According to Ganjar, that could have happened considering the high positive cases in Semarang.
“If the people of Semarang City cannot control, cannot be disciplined and cannot be orderly,” Ganjar was quoted as saying from Line Today, Thursday (30/4).
The number of positive cases in the city of Semarang is indeed quite high even though the Semarang City Government has taken decisive action by implementing Community Activity Restrictions (PKM).
Regarding the Semarang City Government’s decision to implement the PKM and not a large-scale social restriction (PSBB), Ganjar said that in fact, it was in principle a matter of public order.
“We are studying at Jabodetabek PSBB, they are doing the same thing, namely tightening, but at the edges, there is still a crowd. So we need to build awareness of each so that we can understand, understand, and be disciplined,” he said.
However, if the PKM policy applied by Semarang City is not obeyed and the public remains undisciplined, it is not impossible that the PSBB policy will be taken later.
“Please help everyone to be obedient. If it is PSBB, everything will surely hurt. So let’s not raise our status to become PSBB by means of discipline and obeying the rules,” he concluded. (ras/bbs)
