Asian Games medal standings: Indonesia is still in 13th place

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Entering the final seconds of the competition, the Indonesian contingent is still ranked 13th in the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games medal standings, according to official data quoted as of Sunday (8/10) at 07.30 WIB.

Indonesia has now collected 36 medals, with details of seven gold, 11 silver and 18 bronze.

The last medal won by Indonesia was bronze won by the men’s recurve archery team on Saturday (7/10). The Red and White Squad brought the medal home after defeating the Bangladesh Team. Baasith et al. is behind South Korea and India who each took home gold and silver.

Meanwhile, on the same day, several Indonesian sports that played failed to win medals, including weightlifting, karate and marathon swimming.

From weightlifting, Indonesian female lifter Nurul Akmal finished the competition in fourth place with a total lift of 261kg.

Then, from karate, Sandi Firmansyah in the men’s 84 kilogram class, Dessynta Rakawuni Banurea in the women’s 68 kilogram class, and Cok Istri Sanistyarani in the women’s 55 kilogram class also failed to present a medal for Merah Putih.

Aflah Fadlan Prawira from marathon swimming failed to be the best after only ranking seventh in the final. Then, Ratuh Zilizati Fadhly failed to win bronze after losing 140-146 to Indian athlete Aditi Gopichand Swami.

The current results are still below the target, where previously the Indonesian contingent was targeted to win 12 gold medals and be ranked in the top 12. (mhn/bbs)
