Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Chairman of the Indonesian Parliament Puan Maharani emphasized that Indonesia must build and present a strong and solid national maritime force to become the world’s maritime axis.
“Therefore, strengthening the Indonesian Navy as a major component of Indonesia’s maritime power must be carried out,” said Puan in her statement in Jakarta, Thursday.
Puan said this when receiving a visit from the Commander of the Indonesian Navy Command Staff School (Seskoal) Rear Admiral Tunggul Suropati at the DPR RI complex, Jakarta, Wednesday (19/5). On this occasion, Tunggul was accompanied by 10 TNI AL officers.
Puan assessed that the development of the Navy’s strength as a major component of national defense at sea as well as a component of maritime power, is no longer just a wish, but an inevitable need to be realized.
According to her, strategic planning is needed to build a national maritime power. Therefore, it is necessary the role of Seskoal to prepare the resources of TNI AL officers.
She emphasized that Seskoal must be able to make student officers think in an integrated, systematic, structured, and comprehensive manner in compiling strategic planning for the development of the Indonesian Navy’s strength and capabilities.
“It must be adaptive and responsive because in the future we face threats and changes in the global and regional strategic environment that are moving very dynamically,” she said.
On this occasion, the Commander of Seskoal Rear Admiral TNI Tunggul Suropati welcomed the input and thoughts of the Chairman of the Indonesian Parliament regarding the development of maritime forces.
“Therefore, we invite Ms. Puan to give a public lecture at Seskoal so that she can convey her thoughts directly about the development of a national maritime force to the Seskoal student officers,” he said.
Tunggul explained that the Chairman of the Indonesian Parliament would give a public lecture at Seskoal during the Indonesian Navy Strategic Planning Work Lecture for Seskoal Regular Education Student Officers, Class 59 for Academic Year 2021.
In the public lecture, he said, Puan would be asked for her views on the construction of the TNI’s main weapon system (Alutsista), especially the Navy. (jek/bbs)
