The Vice President hopes that Saudi Arabia’s investment in Indonesia will increase

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Vice President Ma’ruf Amin hopes that there will be increased investment from Saudi Arabia in Indonesia in the future.

This was conveyed by the Vice President when receiving the Honorary Visit of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to RI Y.M. Faisal Abdullah H. Amodi, at the Vice President’s Official Residence, Jakarta, Monday.

“I noted that Saudi investment in Indonesia has tended to decline over the past three years, from US$5.3 million in 2020 to US$1.7 million in 2022. I hope that efforts can be made to increase Saudi investment in Indonesia,” the Vice President said in a statement. press release received in Jakarta, Monday.

According to the Vice President, Saudi Arabia is Indonesia’s largest trading partner in the Middle East, where trade between the two countries will increase by 35.3 percent in 2022, reaching US$7.51 billion. However, he observed that Saudi Arabia’s investment in Indonesia had declined in the last three years.

The Vice President also encouraged business to business partnerships in developing Indonesia’s Archipelago Capital (IKN), particularly in the infrastructure, public facilities and renewable energy sectors.

For this reason, the Vice President emphasized the need to strengthen synergy through investment institutions of the two countries.

“I also look forward to developments in strengthening collaboration between the Saudi Public Investment Fund and the Indonesia Investment Authority,” hoped the Vice President.

“In addition, we (Indonesia-Saudi) also need to ensure the realization of the solar power plant project in Saguling and Singkarak. This $104.95 million project is a follow-up to the MoU between PLN and ACWA Power last year,” he explained.

On that occasion the Vice President also said that he welcomed the assignment of Ambassador Faisal Amodi to Indonesia.

“I congratulate you on your assignment as Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Indonesia,” he said.

Responding to this, Ambassador Faisal Amodi stated that he would make every effort to improve relations between the two countries.

“With all the available staff, I will try to improve bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Indonesia to the best of my ability,” said Ambassador Faisal Amodi.

Regarding the increase in investment, Ambassador Amodi revealed that Saudi-RI Indonesia already has a commission that focuses on this sector whose role can be increased in the future.

He further emphasized that he would invite investors to increase investment in Indonesia. However, he said there is a need for a good investment ecosystem in the country to attract investors.

He also asked the Vice President to provide strong support in this matter.

“Hopefully with the support of the Vice President, Saudi investors will be given more attention and opportunities to invest in Indonesia. Without the support of the Vice President, it will be difficult for this investment,” he hoped.
