Vice President: Prohibition of ‘going home’ during Eid is for the sake of mutual safety

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Ma’ruf Amin said the policy to prohibit going home or returning home was decided by the government for the sake of mutual safety, considering that the COVID-19 pandemic is still happening.

“We are still struggling together to face the COVID-19 pandemic this time for Eid al-Fitr. For the sake of our safety, the government has again issued a ban on going home or returning to their hometowns, ”said the Vice President, accompanied by Wury Estu Handayani’s wife, through video recordings received in Jakarta.

The Vice President conveyed that in this year’s Eid al-Fitr celebration, all parties were again demanded to make sacrifices not to meet extended families in their hometowns.

However, the Vice President hopes that the situation does not diminish the meaning of Eid.

“We can still do friendship, even though it is long distance through online technology,” said the Vice President.

The Vice President invited all parties to continue the struggle to get out of the COVID-19 pandemic, one of which is by reducing mobility.

“Because we don’t want the efforts that have been made in the past year in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic to be in vain, and of course the safety of our relatives and friends is a top priority that we must protect together,” he explained.

The Vice President conveyed that even though the situation was tough, he believed that the Indonesian nation was able to deal with it.

“Keep up the spirit, don’t give up. Because behind the difficulties there will definitely be convenience, “he explained. (ojn/bbs)
