Airplane and train passengers without PCR tests barred from entering Beijing

BEIJING, The Indonesia Post – Passengers on planes and trains from various regions in China who do not show a negative PCR test result are prohibited from entering the city of Beijing.

The strict policy ahead of the Winter Olympics (Winter Olympic 2022) is effective as of November 17, 2021.

Some flights from other provinces that fall into the medium and medium risk category will be restricted to only one time a day with a occupancy rate of less than 75 percent, Beijing’s aviation authority told the press on Wednesday.

Likewise, train passengers from various regions are subject to the same rules when they want to enter the Beijing area through 33 stations in the capital.

“Starting Tuesday midnight, all those wishing to enter or return to Beijing must be able to present a PCR test result within 48 hours and a health code,” said Beijing Municipal Government spokesman Xu Hejian.

Local authorities have also tightened supervision in the cold chain industry, especially those that have been found to have positive cases of COVID-19.

At least 33,900 cold chain industry workers are required to carry out PCR tests regularly, said Tang Yunhua, deputy director of the Beijing Municipal Market Supervision Agency. Packages of goods from out of town to Beijing are also tested for COVID-19 on the packaging.

Commuters who live outside the city and carry out their daily activities in Beijing are also required to have a PCR test every 14 days.

So far, Beijing has two moderate-risk areas and on Tuesday (16/11) there were no new cases of COVID-19. (jek/bbs)
