The Indonesian Ulema Council asks the world community to strengthen alliances so that Israel is sanctioned

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) asked the world community to strengthen alliances in order to encourage Israel to be given international sanctions for various acts of violence and colonialism against the Palestinian people.

“Civil society in any country needs to strengthen alliances to encourage Israel to be subject to international sanctions,” said MUI Chairman for Foreign Cooperation and MUI International Relations, Sudarnoto Abdul Hakim in a written statement received in Jakarta, Friday.

Sudarnoto said terrorism is the real enemy of every person and any country. Therefore, the resistance carried out by the Palestinian people against the terrorist tyranny of the Israeli regime and the zionists is a brave and honorable step.

“They are heroes. Therefore, any country must also be determined to fight and fight terrorism,” he said.

On the one hand, the MUI urges America, which has pioneered ‘counter terrorism’, to be at the forefront of stopping Israel’s colonialism. America should also take the lead in constructive changes to the United Nations, so that this world institution is truly empowered to stop the genocide in Palestine.

“Drag Israel to an international tribunal for all the crimes and gross violations of human rights that have been going on for years,” he said.

For this reason, MUI requests and fully supports the efforts of the Indonesian government to defend the Palestinian people and nation in accordance with the mandate of the Preamble to the Constitution.

According to him, government firmness is needed so that there are no high-ranking state officials, business actors, public figures, and Indonesian citizens who have relations and accept the invitation to open diplomatic relations with Israel.

“Don’t betray the mandate of the Preamble to the Constitution, support and help continue the struggle of the Palestinian people and nation,” he said.

Previously, the Indonesian Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C) condemned the brutal actions of the Israeli army which destroyed houses and expelled Palestinian civilians in Sheikh Jarrah, East Jerusalem.

“For the umpteenth time, the Israeli occupation forces and their troops have carried out racist and brutal acts against Palestinian civilian homes that have been occupied for a long time and detained their owners,” said Sarbini Abdul Murad, chairman of the MER-C Presidium.

He said the essence of the ethnic cleansing operation carried out by the occupation forces and its police against Palestinians is to empty the city of Jerusalem of its original inhabitants.

According to him, the heinous and illegal actions carried out by Israel with far-fetched pretexts will damage the climate of peace.

“This is a war crime that cannot be allowed to continue,” he said. (mhn/bbs)
