Jakarta, TheIndonesiaPost – The social media was shocked by the hashtag “Indonesia Whatever” which was trending yesterday, Monday (05/18/2020).
The hashtags were accompanied by complaints and disappointment from citizens who thought the government had not optimally overcome the Covid-19 outbreak.
Videos of medical personnel who were still in uniforms of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the hospital were the discussion because they wrote the sentence up to the video.
The hashtag of “Indonesia Whatever” is popularly thrown by a number of parties because residents now seem to no longer care about the efforts to limit the spread of the coronavirus.
The markets were crowded again, the streets jammed again. Then what is the condition of Indonesia today? Is it true that we have passed the critical phase of the spread of Covid-19? Or do we just want to be ignorant?
“We are thankful that the hashtags actually made people jerked back into the discipline and implemented health protocols,” internal medicine specialist Dr. Andi Khomeini Takdir Haruni, SpPD (K) was quoted as saying by Kompas on Monday (5/18).
According to Andi, so far the doctors, nurses, and medical officers have delivered many appeals and education to the public about the dangers of Covid-19.
However, these efforts have not been able to produce maximum results.
“Maybe because there are interesting and feel that they represent so many people who make (hashtags Indonesia whatever),” he added.
Andi also considered that this hashtag is a form of appreciation from medical staff who feel a little tired but do not give up and continue to provide the best service for the community.
“Maybe there is a little fatigue and a sense of exasperation. On the sidelines of the practice service duties, the hashtags were made by friends. After the hashtag was made we continue to educate and service,” said the doctor Andi.
He also advised the public to take the positive side of the presence of the hashtag, such as staying in a mask and doing physical distancing.
“We are again asking that people do the recommended health protocol, don’t ignore it. Because it is for the benefit of the community itself,” he concluded. (ras/bbs)
