Caring for Traditional Market Traders, Feby Deru Provides PPE Assistance

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Entering a new normal, people now can begin their activities by continuing to open health protocols during the co-19 pandemic. One object that must now be used during activities is personal protective equipment (PPE), which consists of masks and face shields so they can protect themselves.

The use of face shields is expected to reduce the risk of droplets, also, to protect when interacting directly in close proximity, and to reduce hand-to-face contact.

For this reason, as a form of concern for the public, especially traditional market traders whose activities are in the crowd and vulnerable to COVID-19 exposure, the Chairman of the South Sumatra PKK TP Feby Deru was accompanied by Deputy Chairman 1 of the PKK South Sumatra TP Fauziah Mawardi Yahya in collaboration with the South Sumatra Covid-19 Task Force, distributed 261 PPEs in the form of masks and face shields for traders in the Kebon Semai market, and 486 PPEs for traders in the Sekip Ujung market.

Feby Deru appealed to traders to always wear PPE during activities in the market, as a step to prevent and break the COVID-19 chain. “Ladies and gentlemen, please keep using these masks and face shields during your activities, so that you can stay comfortable during transactions between traders and buyers. Our preventive measures start with ourselves,” she stressed.

Activities and productivity of the economy continued by Feby can still be done by the community as long as they continue to comply with health protocols using masks, face shields, routine handwashing with soap and running water, keeping a distance, and avoiding crowds.

“It’s an effort that we can do as much as possible, and don’t forget to pay attention to stamina and health/immune of the body by consuming healthy food, vitamins, and exercise”, she added.

Feby Deru also took the time to talk for a moment with a number of traders both in the Kebon Semai market and the Sekip Ujung market while socializing so that traders do not forget to always wear PPE.

Meanwhile, Head of the Trade Office, Iwan Gunawan, revealed that his party appreciated the steps taken by the Chairman of the South Sumatra PKK TP Feby Deru who had manifested his concern for the public, especially traders by distributing PPE.

“Our appreciation goes to Mrs. Feby who together with the South Sumatra co-19 task force team in economics are willing to provide PPE assistance. This is according to what the Governor ordered that as long as COVID-19 economic activity and productivity can continue to run while maintaining the health protocol”, he explained.

Iwan added that COVID-19 handling and prevention cannot be done partially, but it requires synergy from all parties.

“We will continue to distribute PPE in the form of masks and face shields to traders in the markets. Currently, there are only two market points, then at least next week we will also share them in other markets in the city of Palembang. Thank you to all those who have helped “, he said.

One trader in the Kebon Semai market, Yanti, said she was very happy with the distribution of the PPE. “Yes, I am happy with this assistance. It makes us feel safe and comfortable while on the move, especially since the market is always crowded. This way we can feel calm. At least we have minimized the spread of Covid-19,” she said.
