Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – SOE Minister Erick Thohir plans to build an Indonesian House in the Holy Land of Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to serve Hajj and Umrah pilgrims from Indonesia.
“We plan to build the Rumah Indonesia project in Makkah to serve Indonesian Hajj and Umrah pilgrims,” said Erick Thohir when delivering his speech at the 2022 Global Islamic Investment Forum online in Jakarta, Friday.
The SOE Minister added that PT PP (Persero) Tbk was the lead developer for the Indonesian House project in Makkah.
In addition, Erick Thohir also expects support from the Hajj Financial Management Agency or BPKH to participate in the Indonesian House funding scheme in Makkah, in collaboration with the Indonesian National Bank (BNI) to fund the construction of the project.
As is known, Indonesia is one of the countries with the largest Hajj and Umrah pilgrims besides Saudi Arabia.
“Hopefully the Islamic Development Bank or IsDB can discuss with PT PP and BPKH in order to discuss the possibility of collaboration,” said Erick Thohir.
Previously, SOE Minister Erick Thohir had a dream to invest in building a hajj house in the Holy Land of Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
“We also have a dream that we are exploring, who knows we will get married again. We are looking for an opportunity to invest in how to build a Hajj house in Mecca, which we don’t have so far,” said SOE Minister Erick Thohir.
The SOE minister highly appreciated the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) being able to be part of developing Islamic finance together and coincidentally, the Ministry of SOEs was also involved in building it. (ojn/bbs)
